🌷 5 spring upgrades I got from Quince (and returns)

Hey gorgeous! ✨

Can we talk about spring shopping for a second?

Because here's the thing: you don't need a whole new wardrobe every time the seasons change.

I know, I know... Instagram will try to convince you otherwise. The stores are screaming "NEW ARRIVALS!" and suddenly you're standing in front of your closet thinking everything you own is boring.

But real talk? You probably just need a few strategic upgrades.

That's exactly what I did this spring. I took a good look at what I already had, identified the gaps, and filled them in with pieces that actually make sense for my life.

Some were home runs. A couple... well, let's just say they went back in the mail πŸ˜…

So today I'm sharing the 5 spring upgrades I'm absolutely loving, plus the honest truth about what didn't work.

Cashmere T-Shirt

Okay technically I got this for my Asia trip back in December, but I knew I'd wear it year-round. And guess what? I was right.

⭐️ Why it's so good: It's soft, breathable, and elevates literally any outfit. Pair it with jeans? Chic. With a silk midi skirt? Elegant. It's one of those rare pieces that works for spring, summer, fall... basically forever.

I got mine in size S and it's become one of my most-worn pieces. If you've been on the fence about cashmere in warmer weather (60-degrees), trust me on this one.

Silk Mini Skirt

I already have the midi version of this skirt and love it so much... but I wanted something a little more fun and flirty for spring (and summer!).

⭐️ Why it's so good: The color is absolutely gorgeous, the length is perfect for my 5'4" frame, and it instantly makes any outfit feel more intentional. Plus, silk just has that je ne sais quoi, you know?

I got it in size S and I'm already planning all the ways I'll style it this season. White tee? Cute. Cropped sweater tank? Even cuter.

Organic Cotton Waffle Cropped Sweater Tank

Think of this as a cami... but better. So much better.

⭐️ Why it's so good: You can wear it in spring, summer, even early fall. It's elegant enough for dinner but casual enough for brunch. And here's the best part: it's perfect for non-tuckers! Just throw it on with high-waisted pants or a skirt and you're done.

I got mine in size S and it's been getting so much wear already.

Denim Chore Jacket (Indigo Blue)

If you don't have a good denim jacket in your closet, this is your sign.

⭐️ Why it's so good: It's structured but not stiff, works with literally everything, and adds that effortless "I didn't try too hard" vibe to any outfit. I wear mine over dresses, skinny jeans, even with my silk skirts. It's one of those pieces that quietly does so much work in your wardrobe.

I got it in Indigo Blue, size XS, and it fits like a dream.

Cashmere Skirt (Teak Brown)

Okay, this one is hands down the most gorgeous skirt I own. Like, I audibly gasped when I tried it on.

⭐️ Why it's so good: It's soft, flattering, and SO chic. Yes, I know I mostly travel to warm places and don't need a cashmere skirt... but when I saw it was finally back in stock (it's always sold out!), I couldn't resist.

I'm keeping it for a future fall trip, and honestly? I might find excuses to wear it sooner. It's that good. (Size XS, color Teak)

How to Actually Shop for Spring (without overdoing it)

Here's my advice: Start with what you already own.

Pull out your spring favorites, lay them on your bed, and ask yourself:

  • What am I missing?
  • What would make getting dressed easier?
  • Are there any gaps I keep trying to fill with random pieces?

For me, those gaps were the pieces listed above. Once I identified those, shopping became so much easier (and way less overwhelming). I knew exactly what I was looking for.

A few other spring basics worth considering: (very common for spring)

You don't need all of these. These are just examples.

The Honest Returns (because not everything works!)

Let's normalize this: returns happen. Even when you love a brand, not every piece is going to be the one.

Here's what went back:

  • Silk Cami in White – Huge disappointment. I already own this cami in leopard print and love how it fits... but when I ordered it in white (size S), it was huge. Way too much fabric, not flattering at all. Sometimes Quince sizing can be inconsistent, and this was one of those times.
  • Ultra-Stretch Ponte Super Wide Leg Ankle Pants – Too long for me. They would've looked gorgeous with heels, but I rarely wear heels (even though I love them). If you're shopping for office pants and love a dressier vibe, these are SO flattering. Just not for my current lifestyle. (Good news: I just saw they now come with inseam options!)
  • Organic Stretch Cotton Chino Cropped Wide Leg Pants – The reviews said they ran small. I ignored them. They were 100% right πŸ˜…. I got size 2 and needed a 4. The pants themselves are gorgeous (love the Aegean Blue color!), so I'll be reordering later this year when I'm back in the US.
  • Silk PJ Pants – Gorgeous pants, but not comfy as PJs. They have a side slit that rolls all the way up like shorts when you sleep. Weird, right? I actually kept them and now I use them as lounging pants (and even wear them outside). They were too pretty to return!

The takeaway...

Spring shopping doesn't have to be stressful or expensive. It's just about filling in the gaps with pieces you'll actually wear.

And yeah, sometimes things don't work out. That's okay! That's what return policies are for.

The goal isn't perfection. It's building a wardrobe that makes you feel good, fits your real life, and doesn't require a degree in fashion to get dressed every morning.

You've got this πŸ’›

Okay, I have to come clean about something. This is one of the questions I get most often β€” "Aimara, your tips are great, but I'm not a size XS. Does any of this actually work for me?" And for a long time I kind of danced around it. Not because I didn't care, but because it's genuinely not my personal experience. I'm a size small, and I didn't want to pretend I had all the answers when I don't. But here's what changed my mind... I watch my husband pack for every single trip we take. He's...

Before we get into this, let me say the obvious. I know I usually show up in your inbox talking about packing lists, carry-ons, and how to make fewer clothes work harder when you travel. 🌎 That’s my world. I live out of this little suitcase most of the year, and packing light is second nature to me. But here’s something I don’t say enough: Every good packing list starts with an easy closet. And by easy, I don’t mean tiny or perfect or Pinterest-worthy. I'm talking about a closet that doesn’t...
