Is this Mexico's most beautiful city? 😍

Buenos dΓas amigos!

Once again, we're saying hello from vibrant little Guanajuato. We've loved this city since arriving here, and we're already thinking that our January 31st departure is approaching way too quickly!

We booked 4 weeks in Guanajuato, and the truth is we always go into these longer stays kind of blind. But we've been lucky that this place is (almost) exactly what we were looking for. It checks off so many boxes and we've found it so easy to get in our groove.

  • Easy walking distance to the gym, supermarket, fruit & veggie market, tortilla lady. Basically everywhere... βœ…
  • Affordable βœ… (We paid less than $800 for 4 weeks in our 2-bedroom apt!)
  • Extremely welcoming and friendly people βœ…
  • Very local vibes. βœ… (Not a single tourist-trap to be found around here)
  • Enough interesting things to do and see to keep us entertained βœ…
  • Tacos βœ…

So yea, we love it here. And we're just going to keep the love fest going...

Put Guanajuato on your radar!

Nearby San Miguel de Allende (only 50 miles away) has become a hotspot here in Mexico. But somehow Guanajuato continues to fly under-the-radar with international tourists.

Sure, it doesn't have the same high-end appeal as San Miguel de Allende. But what it does have is a ton of history and character. Just look at this wacky design, it's unlike anything we've seen in Mexico!

Fun fact: the first battle (and victory) of the Mexican revolution happened right here in Guanajuato. A rebel militia led by Miguel Hidalgo marched into town and defeated the Spanish in a bloody battle that marked the first major step towards Mexican independence. Viva Mexico, cabrones πŸ‡²πŸ‡½

And - even though this region isn't necessarily known for its food like Oaxaca or the Yucatan - it's still Mexican food. And it rocks!

Obviously we have a couple more weeks here, so we'll fill you in with more details on Guanajuato's loveliness. But if you have a thing for colorful and vibrant Mexican cities, then definitely pop this place on your radar!

Our favorite city in Northern Italy 🀀

Bologna was ranked by 'travel experts' as the most underrated city in the world. But that's not all, it also has the unmeasurable title of 'culinary capital of Italy!'

I know what you're thinking. What the hell is a travel expert? And isn't culinary capital totally subjective? The answers: 'No clue' and 'Yes!'

HOWEVER... Bologna is freaking amazing and the food is certified bonkers. This city is the birthplace of lasagna, mortadella, tagliatelle al ragΓΉ (pasta with meat sauce) and a bunch of other mouthwatering delights.

Click here to join us on a culinary tour through Bologna! (PSA: don't watch if you're hungry!)

Fun fact: Spaghetti Bolognese is not a thing! The meat sauce many in the West know as Bolognese is called RagΓΉ in Italy. And the typical pasta to have it with is called tagliatelle. Ordering Spaghetti Bolognese in Bologna is a good way to piss off the locals πŸ˜‚

Last week we asked you guys about your dream destinations for 2024.

We were sure that Italy would easily take the top spot. But the surprise winner was...

Albania! (iykyk!)

Nope, just kidding... Even though Albania is awesome and you should totally go there, the joint winners of this little survey were Portugal & Italy. Muito bom! πŸ‘πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Ή

What's next for us?

Next week is video-week for us. We have less than two weeks left in Guanajuato, and basically we have to get our butts in gear to create some content for YouTube and Instagram.

Our camera has been collecting dust since we left Italy in early December, so we're crossing our fingers we haven't gotten too rusty!

Besides for that we'll just continue hanging around lovely little Guanajuato eating tacos and getting s#!% done 😎

Thanks for reading! See you next week πŸ˜‰

Buenos dΓas Reader β˜€οΈ We have shared a handful of videos about the cost of living in Mexico. But what about the cost of moving?
